          WORLD  DAY

Towers down and heroes fall,
Frightened cry and angry call.
Transcend, transcend!
Which is the greatest land of all?
This is a day for the world.

Helpless wonder, spellbound gaze,
Sleepless nights and aching days.
Beyond, beyond!
Watch, but see through the smoke and haze:
Rise to the cry of the world.

Patterns old and war to sell,
Retributions fresh from hell.
Amend, amend!
Follow duty but mark it well:
Lighten the pain of the world.

Until the furthest, darkest child
Can lift its heart by hope beguiled
To dream, to dream!
We all, with it, shall be reviled.
We are but part of the world.

Towers down and heroes fall,
Frightened cry and angry call.
Transcend, transcend!
Which is the greatest land of all?
This is the day of the world.
